My parents were leaving for the Philippines and wanted some Mexican food before their trip, so after reading some reviews from fellow Yelpers, I decided to give El Maguey a try. I purchased 4 super burritos, 3 steak and 1 pastor, it came out to around $50. The burrito sizes are pretty big, easily enough for food for 2 small meals. I did finish it in one sitting but definitely didn't need to. Since it was my first time here, my bar is always a steak super burrito, and they do it fairly well here. The rice was fresh, plenty of beans, but definitely could've used a bit more sour cream. The carne was a good for the most part except for some chewy pieces I had to pick out. Overall, a solid burrito find in San Carlos. If I lived closer, this would be on the rotation.

A bit awkward to get to off Holly, especially when traffic is heavy but it's a great place for take-out. Food is good and dishes arrive home still hot.

This is my go to mexican place for lunch. Only a 10 minute drive from my office and they have amazing burritos. A solid taqueria choice and I have been dozens of times. The chips and salsa are self serve...

This is a hidden gem! I accidently found this spot and I am glad I found it. Their food is delicious, it's authentic, they are friendly, and it's a true taqueria- which is hard to find these days! Their rice and beans are delicious, their carne asada is okay, I personally like Carnitas and El Pastor. The salsa selections is great, and you can't go wrong with any of them (except for habanero - which is spicy for those that loves to live on the edge - no judgement haha !) I have been here twice already, and will definitely be back

Staff is fast and friendly, chips are complementary. Salsa bar was varied and fresh, and decently spicy. No AC and limited parking. Location very convenient to Laureala Park and San Carlos Caltrain. California burrito was enormous and tasty, with fresh ingredients. Carne asada was good quality. I lived in San Diego for 15 years and this spot is legit, even has orange sauce.

Amazing super burritos! Great complimentary salsas with chips too if you love spicy. There's a salsa station for you to get salsas and radishes yourself. Only one red salsa wasn't spicy. We ordered to-go and it was pretty fast to be ready for us to pick up. We got cabeza and lengua. Both were delicious. Soft and tender meats.

friendly and professional staff! I ordered food family style for a group of 8. They easily took my order over the phone and was ready for pick up. Food was good and convenient for a quick and easy catering meal for a small group. I will say I had a lot of food (enough for 16 guests). Will note for next time.

5 stars for their service. The young lady who took my order was patient, friendly and greeted you with a smile. Like many other places, they had free chips and salsa. But they had at least 8 different types to choose from, and the best was that they had mango salsa too.. delicious. I ordered the taco salad which was not on the menu, and it was good. My husband ordered the beef fajita and the beef was tough and chewy. I guess one should not expect much because it was under $20. But overall, I would come back to this place and try different menu items. Did I also mention their portion size!! I had left over for lunch.

Unassuming Mexican restaurant close to 101 with great food, prices, and service. They have birria on the weekends, and I can never not order birria when I see it. It was flavorful. Generous portion especially at the price though the meat was a little tough. Beans were tasty and rice was perfectly seasoned. Open kitchen. You can see them preparing your food, which is always neat. Full salsa bar complete with tortilla chips. The service was incredibly friendly.
